Ten years ago, I sat home alone on maternity leave with my first-born baby, in front of a television in a new home in a new city where had just I joined my husband before giving birth. Like so many women during what can be an isolating time, I looked to television, radio, and digital media for companionship, information relevant to my needs and interests, and a connection to women that would satisfy an inner calling for a community that I hadn't heard until just that moment in my life. What I found on TV instead were programs where women were encouraged to argue - not just disagree - but behave and perform cruelly to one another for the purpose of getting higher ratings. At a time when I was beginning a new role as mother, nurturer, protector, and guide to a new member of the next generation, what I wanted was programming that was meaningful, nourishing, peace-inducing, and trustworthy. So I decided to tap the resources of my earlier career in television to embark on a journey to create the programs I wanted to watch - because surely, I felt, there is a community of women out there looking for the same thing. Turns out, that calling was right (always listen to your gut!). For the past decade, I have been developing programs that connect with women and help women connect with each another. I started CPM Omnimedia to provide platforms for the voices of women to speak up for, share with, inspire, teach, and learn from each other and I hope you will join us. Watch, listen, read, comment, ask questions, and suggest ways to lend your own voice to our programs. We're not a fully collective voice without yours included.
This space is where I share my personal reflections about women today from a variety of angles. I welcome your feedback about what you see here, ideas for content, partnerships, new platforms to help women connect, and anything else you'd like to share.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to hearing from you!
